The Okhla Bird Sanctuary , officially known as the  Shaheed Chander Azad Sanctuary , is a popular destination for bird lovers in Delhi. The sanctuary is home to around 300 different species of birds, including those found in thorny scrub, grassland, and wetland habitats. The creation of the Okhla Barrage formed the wetland and was officially designated as a sanctuary by the government of Uttar Pradesh in 1990.
